Multimedia Means...

I've been creative my entire life. Since the age of three, I've felt the pull to cater to curiosity, to employ my imagination, and to make things in my mind a reality.

As far back as I can remember, being creative has been a natural part of my everyday existence. As a largely self-taught artist, that creativity involved constant exploration and trial and error. When I discovered a new medium or technique that clicked naturally (I did it well enough, enjoyed it, or both), I added it to my toolbox.

The toolbox grew! And as it did, I often began to incorporate more than one medium into each project to which I brought my cache of disciplines. It started with adding unusual materials into drawn or painted 2-dimensional work, and grew from there. Now the process of creating a single work can combine numerous media, such as drawing, sculpting, digital elements, photography, and more.

For me, being a multimedia artist means honoring my curiosity and my desire to push limits to create something fresh and unique. Whether I'm working on a commissioned project or bringing another idea of my own to life. The more media at my disposal (and options for expression), the better.

What's your favorite art form? Do you create in that media or are you a lover/supporter of those who do?
